Principal's Message

Principal's Welcome Message

"We become what we love and who we love shapes what we become. If we love things, we become a thing. If we love nothing, we become nothing. Imitation is not a literal mimicking of Christ, rather it means becoming the image of the beloved, an image disclosed through transformation. This means we are to become vessels of God´s compassionate love for others. "
--St. Clare of Assisi

It is my distinct honour to welcome you to another exciting year at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Elementary School. As principal, I would like to welcome all our new students and their families to our community. We at St. Clare are committed to providing the best Catholic Education rooted in gospel values so that all learners can reach their full potential. By setting high expectations, our students thrive academically and develop spiritually, emotionally and physically.

St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Elementary School first opened its doors in late 1982. Since its inception our school has enjoyed a rich history filled with academic excellence, a strong parish connection and an engaged parent community. We are extremely proud of all that we have accomplished and look with optimism to the future. Today we have around 285 pupils and close to 35 staff members at our school serving students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.

We continue to be a proud feeder school to St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School in Stoney Creek and an active member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish community. The school enjoys a wonderful relationship with pastor Father Ross Campbell, associate pastors Father Peter Robinson and Father Claude Perera, and the parish team.

Our school motto of “Be the Face of Jesus, See the Face of Jesus” is firmly rooted in our students. The use of Restorative Practices at our school engages learners, strengthens relationships, and creates a respectful and positive school climate. We will always work and collaborate together as a faith community so that we can become caring, responsible, and hardworking citizens ready for the challenges of the 21st century.

Yours in Catholic Education,

Mr. Mike Mielko
Principal
